The First Test Run of the Ousiders

What was the author's purpose(s) in writing this book, and how can you tell? How well was this purpose achieved?
     In this story "The OUTSIDERS" by S.E Hinton is about gangs, also I think that the purpose is the comparison and contrast between both gangs. The gangs are Greasers and Socials. They are both gangs and they are pretty tough. ("Tuff") But Greasers are poor they do not have money like the Socials do, Socials have weapons like knives and other type which is not named yet in the story which i have not reached yet. Anyways, the Greasers have knives but they do not carry it all the time, and when they do not have it all the time they just find a glass bottle and break the end of it so then it can become spiky and sharp. Socials always have weapons with them the never have to use a bottle because they are too rich to Greasers.  By the way, they usually fight with their own fist because they just want to give each other pain for now they do not want to kill them. Anyways the purpose was achieved because i can already tell what the whole story is about because of the first chapter. They basically try to show who is a better gang and why.

      Basically, in the story it is based upon how they are, safety and the most important is caring for Greasers. By saying how they are meaning their looks and how it makes them a Greaser, what makes them a is Greasing their hair back. What make a Social is their close and their objects, their close is a blue madras shirt also their object is their mustang. The Greasers always need a weapon with them because they are always getting jumped or they will need another group member because one of the Greasers got jumped and the while team came and scared the Socials away. Caring is the last thing because the three main people in the story their names are Darry Curtis whos the oldest brother, Sodapop Curtis second to oldest, and Ponyboy Curtis the youngest. Their parents died in a car accident which makes Darry do all the hard work because he has a job that gives him muscle spasm.

     Overall, as the part I read Ponyboy who is the main main character thinks that his big brother Darry is an ass but he really is not because all he do wanting the best of him and always worrying about him since their is no one else to except Sodapop here is a quote from Sodapop have to say about Darry because of Ponyboy's life "Listen, kiddo, when Darry hollers at you . . . he don't mean nothin'. He's just got more worries than somebody his age ought to. Don't take him serious . . . you dig, Pony? He's really proud of you 'cause you're so brainy. It's just because you're the baby-I mean, he loves you a lot." As people can see is that Darry is just caring about his little brother by yelling at him and teaching him the bad things and the rights things. Darry is just trying to be the bigger man as he is trying to be so he can take care of his brothers which is one of the main point of the story.

Looking Through Great Vignettes

     As i was looking through some vignettes I see some comparison in some like Yen Nguyen, Vinh Hang Liang, and Christy Nghe. I seen that they all were writing about names which is common because of the Vignettes of The House of Mango Street had made a vignette just like it. I seen in Yen and Christy talk about how they do now like their own names but then later they do. Here is Yen quote "Sometimes I ask my parents why they named me such a weird name." Another one is " My name represents who I am.  I can’t give up who I am.  My name is mine." When i read this a lot of things popped in my mine but the first one was what inspired you to like your name after you said sort of negative things about it. In my opinion i never met a Yen before so i am glad i did and its not common so now you have to represent your self like you have to do something outrageous so people can remember you like " ooo yea you talking about Yen dang he was the $#!% after he did _____".

As i read Vihn vignette his first sentence grab my attention. Which was "Different name may held different meanings". It grabbed my attention because it is something true that is common and people really want to know why is it important for people to have different names and meaning. In my opinion one of the reason i am guessing is religion because some religion have to force them into having a name that is important to they're religion. Like my religion our profit is name Mohammad and some parents made their child name that because of religion. By the way i also liked how you have a lot of examples to explain for your vignette it makes it flow in a perfect way where people can get your idea.

While reading Christy vignette she brings a lot of comments that makes her happy about her name which 

were "This is good because I know a lot of people that have the same names which I wouldn’t be pleased to have. I would want to be different." I would agree because it would be weird if there was two of me basically we would be doing the same thing because of our personality. It can be bad because if you have a personality that is terrible like mean and annoying then basically you would just do it to your self. That is why i highly agree.

Looking into AMAZING people post

     As i was looking in to Luis Alba blogs and Fermin Carrera i can see their relationships. I can see it because they are both most of the time talk about the same thing. What they just really talk about is living in Oakland and describing it in a way like a good way and a negative way well as Fermin says in his other blogs is that "there is many gang members in Oakland and if you wear a certain color then you might get shot or badly wounded" (Mr.Sutherland can you teach me how to quote things because its not working for some reason which is really annoying and also the link is screwing up too) I am going to agree with Fermin because I see fights at school which was my Middle school and because of stupid things.

     Now, I am going to talk about the comparison. I think that the comparison about Fermin and Luis is about their city and how it is good and bad which I highly agree about that because there is lots of ups and downs. Luis says "Oakland is dangerous for you only if for certain reasons. If you are involved in drug deals, gangs, or maybe in the wrong places at wrong times." That is one of the comparisons i have compared with Fermin and Luis, is that it is bad in Oakland for certain reasons i am guessing they have more to say but they just did not put it down on blogger, anyways the comparison is about how Oakland is terrible in ways. Here is another quote from Luis as he expresses how great Oakland is "Oakland is a great place to live at. If you may not know, I live in Oakland. Oakland is so much fun, so many things to do all day. You can go walking around, play sports, or just hang out with some friends. There are many places where you can go, the park, stores, or just outside." This is true because that is what I do everyday I come out of ASTI because I be bored to death just doing work everyday its bs. Also Fermin have something good to say about Oakland here it is "Luis says that Oakland is so much fun. That there are so many things you can do like walk around, plays sports, or just hang out with your friends. These are some activities that I do," As you can see they agree with eachother but they dont fully agree with everything they think about Oakland as Fermin said in his blog "Well we have a different perspective toward Oakland." I am going to disagree with Fermin because you guys have common things about Oakland that you guys describe in your blog just review your blogs and you will see i know you guys just want to hurry up and finish your homework so you can get it over with but look what you said from the pass.

      Okay, now my opinion about Oakland. Now Oakland is a balance city because its always good and always bad. One week you see kids on the street playing and you hear loud good music and then next week you hear gun shots, police out side, helicopter, and criminals hollering. Well, I like Oakland because its my hometown and i have lived here enough and why should i leave now. I know we see lots of gangs which is really common but you cant tell now and days if they are. Oakland have literally changed i have not seen police arrest anyone near my house anymore which is great. Oakland is terrible and sometimes careful. It seems like Oakland is bipolar. Also Luis be lucky you do not see things go down like before and Fermin just hang in there do not stay outside where you live is dangerous because my cousin live next to you and they told me a lot of things about that area.

Whats next for Esperanza?

What i think that Esperanza is just trying to leave because she wrote this whole book about the house she has been leaving in. They're was so many things about that house and she wrote a book about it to show how she has been in there and the events that had happen there. she wrote this book because of all the things that had happen to her when she was there and she found some symbols, well she did not find them but she noticed something because most of the vignettes had always have something to do with her and what she wear and items. It also makes the story significant and it grabs the readers attention because of all the weird titles she wrote for all of her vignettes and even some of them were symbols she put in there for a reason so us readers can find clues about this book. The whole story is based upon her life and how her life been and what she had experienced.

I found this quote about some girl in the vignette call Alicia the quote is "Alicia whose mom die [...] lunch box tortilla". This quote i got from class of the difference between boys and girls and how should they be treated, any ways this does not just implies with genders it implies for Esperanza to because maybe she like her mom or maybe she hates her. If Esperanza liked her mom then she would go back into the future and see lots of memory, if she hated her then she might go back for memory or will not go at all. Also this other quote shows how hateful is has been there and what kind of people were there here is the quote “I waited my whole life. You’re a liar. They all lied. [...] everything that told it wrong.” these also can bring back memories for her. I am guessing she will go back for some reason because it said in the book but i just cant find the book or the quote i forgot what page it was. I know that they're are many different reasons she would go back but I cant find the quotes to prove it though.

I believe she would come back for the people she love because she is not that messed up she still got love for one another but basically she just does not show it at all. She seems like a housewife because all the work she do at the house and what she is force to do. I am guessing she would come back because it even said in the book. She is a creative women and a significant women that had went to a terrible life which she is trying to make it better since she wrote this book.

Cisnero Difference between genders

Cisnero would answer the question in a more productive way. I think because she always talks about herself and that shows a difference between men and women. Most of her vignettes are based upon her and I guess when she writes a vignette it just expresses her feeling and what happen during her day. She always has something to say but always in a different way. What I like about her is that she basically shows but don’t tell and that’s what make their readers get into it. She has many things to say about both genders but she says it in a different way where the reader have to zoom in the story and read it like 3 to 4 times so then they get what she is trying to say.
In some way she explains about other genders and how they are and different. Like this quote she says “Is good girl, my friend, studies all night and sees the mice, the ones her father says do not exist” (p.32) this shows that girls are suppose to do what they have to do like choirs and working in the kitchen so they can fix us a full plate of food. As girl’s she is the one who is supposed to go to school and get a great education. That is what they are supposed to do as other people explained it during class. Also another one is “Since she comes right after me, she is my responsibility” Cisneros believes that patients need girls to be more responsible so that they can raise a good family. That shows a really big difference because it shows what boys do and girls.

Overall, it shows differences that other people cannot explain. She has a lot of details about different gender and she explains it in a significant ways. I could not believe how good she compares them I have not seen nothing that good. I like how she don’t tell and show because she explains a lot and puts it in good detail. That is also I very significant way and explains a lot and I makes sense.

Snowman

        During the break from school me and my family went to Reno which was the best day of my life. As we were playing in the snow we found a snowman, as we found the snowman we tried to tackle. As soon I seen it I ran to it and tried to tackle it and it hurt like hell. It was like a brick wall. I was in pain for the whole day and I still tried to tackle it, because I had nothing better to do.
          Later after we finish the snowman off with my body my whole family was throwing snow balls at me and my brother Camal. There was like a foot down the snow which we did not notice. Then me and my brother fell in then they threw a lot of snow balls at us which hurt. One time he threw a snow ball at my face which went into my mouth and it was disgusting because I never taste snow before. Then my brother shoe got stuck and then I have to take it out because he could not do it. Then I took it out with my teeth like I did the other time I went to Reno.
          Finally, as we finish fighting against each other we tried to break the snowman even more. I had a scarf and I try to use it so then I can cut the lower body of the snowman which we fail on that to.  Then I tackle it one last time before we left and then I broke it then we try to break the other lower body and that was a fail then we just left.

Entertainment

    At school I crew up a couple of time but the point is to keep everyone entertain. It’s a habit even though I try to stop it does not stop with me instead it just keep going on even though I am in a bad mood. I am a nice person inside and outside if i want to. Entertainment keeps me happy when others laugh because it makes others happy, but I really need to stop in some places because i can get in trouble with teachers.
    In school that is when I entertain people. Most of the time I usually mess around but since my grades were not so good I am trying to be more productive in all of our activity's. In the class it seem like a Comedian came into our class room.(which is me) Me and my friend Yazen who is my best friend, we goooo way back. We always make fun of each other but i am better than him in jokes. then me and my friend Yazen makes fun of people which his jokes are alive and my was just like a newborn baby came to life.

As I screw up i start to realize its going to effect me later on in life. I also notice its making it harder for me to reach my goal.Its leaves me out in the opening lost. That is one thing i hate about my self and like in a way. In a way i keep peoples emotion up, and the thing i do not like about it is that it makes me become careless for my future and goal. That is why people say that always believe in your goal, which i agree with them because i want to follow but i am pretty sure that it is not going to happen in my opinion.

The Crew

The crew. The crew is me Luis Alba, Fermin Carrera, Yazen Fayad, David Perez, and Bassam Al-kabash. These people are like my brothers to me. What i like about our crew is that we always have something to say to each other in a funny way. Also another thing is that we are never mad at each other unless its something really serious. I never had cool friends these people. I swear life would have been a b**** with out them. I would be bored to death and if one of us have problems we cheer each other up. We are like a therapist for each other because we cheer them up and solve the problem and keep them in a good mood.

This crew was the best crew I ever had. Every lunch we go to the same place and we just have fun sometimes and we do not even get a chance to finish our food which cost money and it smell fantastic. When we see a car like a curve car basically its called a punch buggy then we punch each other and we say no punch back so then we would not hit the person who hit us. We are just not mature but when we are near someone we become mature and sort of immature, but that is how we are. That is why i like my crew because they the S#!%.

The Life

My life is really terrible. i have been to serious things that effects me a lot. One thing is my grades it is really bad last semester and i am proud of my self because i have been improving suffienctly which i am proud of. My teachers give me complement and that is what makes me happy  a lot because it basically keeps my hopes up. I was failing like real bad but then that became to an fantastic student.

School is the main thing in my mind. i do not know why we have to learn and now i notcie the real me. I took lots of people advices and those advices are helping me succeed and be a responsible person in my life.

I hate the first part of my life because it was torture and now its the best. well sort of the best because i know that i am still going to have trouble in college and when i am a upper class men. I have to step my game up since i know i am becoming a better student i was like a chick and i just hatched out of my egg and become a new person and make better decisions for my life and goal.

House on Mango Street Symbolism For Red/Pink

So i am going to talk about "The House on Mango Street" well i think it is basically about symbols she leads out to us readers. We found a couple of them but i bet the is plenty more then what we found. She is smart by bring out lots of vignettes basically random ones i guess she did that so then it grabs us readers attenion. That is a pretty smart way to i think. Well today I am going to be talking about one of her symbols i think it is interesting thats why i chose it and it is red/pink. I pick this one because red to me brings a lot of things in my head.

So in the story it talks a lot about the colors red/pink which is two beatiful colors. I think that it symbols death to her and bunch of other things i said it was death because she mention that one of her neighbors told her husband not to sell the apartment and when she died he sold it right away and thats one thing that occured to me durring that moment i read it. It also shows something about her beauty because she was talking about she went to a dance and she wore a red dress and she said it grabbed a boy attention who i think she like or something not so sure but it symbolize lots of things because think about it how many things in the world is red lots and lots so basically millions of things pops in people head when they think about red or pink. But i guess that she is trying to lead us into something i think is incredible about her life and herself.

She has a lot of symbols she wants us readers to look for so then we can receive the message she is trying to show us basically thats what i think. She is a smart person and i guess she is poor to because of all of the places she had move but because of that it gave her an adventure she never experinced before. Which mde her make this book and became someone. Thats what they say good things haPpen to good people.
